Celebrating Mdm. Lo Joo Sim – Honorary Secretary Emeritus – 40 Years of Distinguished Service to Kuala Lumpur Gymnastics Association

On 30th April 2025, at the Annual General Meeting of the Kuala Lumpur Gymnastics Association (KLGA), a significant chapter came to a close as Mdm. Lo Joo Sim officially stepped down from her long-standing role as Honorary Secretary, a position she held with unparalleled dedication for 40 years.

Since assuming the post in 1985, Mdm. Lo has been a steadfast force behind the growth and stability of KLGA. Her contributions extend far beyond administrative duties — she has been a pillar of institutional continuity, a source of wisdom in governance, and a driving force behind numerous developmental milestones within the gymnastics community in Kuala Lumpur and beyond.

Mdm. Lo is not only a respected official but also a pioneer in rhythmic gymnastics (RG) in Malaysia. She has served as an active judge, mentor, and community leader in the RG discipline for decades. Her passion for the sport and commitment to knowledge-sharing culminated in the publication of Gimrama in 1995, which continues to be a treasured reference in the local gymnastics fraternity.

In recognition of her outstanding four decades of voluntary service, the President, Mr. Mike Ng Sik Hoi of KLGA proposed the conferment of the title Honorary Secretary Emeritus upon Mdm. Lo Joo Sim — a symbolic and historic honour, as it is the first of its kind in the Association’s history. The proposal was unanimously supported by all members present at the AGM, reflecting the deep appreciation and respect held for her within the community.

While Mdm. Lo is stepping down from her official role, we are heartened to know that her presence, insight, and legacy will continue to guide us in the years to come. The title of Honorary Secretary Emeritus acknowledges not only her past achievements but also her enduring importance to KLGA’s future.

We also take this opportunity to warmly welcome Mdm. Chuah Siew Hoon, who has been elected as the new Honorary Secretary. Mdm. Chuah brings her own wealth of experience and commitment to the role, and we are confident that she will uphold and carry forward the values of integrity, service, and excellence that Mdm. Lo has so exemplified.

To Mdm. Lo Joo Sim, on behalf of the Kuala Lumpur Gymnastics Association and the wider gymnastics family. Thank you for your unwavering dedication, your pioneering spirit, and your lifetime of contributions. Your legacy is not only written in records and titles, but also in the hearts and lives of those you’ve impacted throughout your journey.

With deepest gratitude,
Kuala Lumpur Gymnastics Association
